New Year’s Resolution:

“To Become more Proactive and less Reactive”

I think it is safe to say that most people would rather be in a position where they are in control.  In a position where they decide what is going to happen to them…or at least have the choice to decide what is going to happen.

When we look at our business processes, it is the same way.  We want processes that we have the ability to influence and control. We can look at this as being Reactive or Proactive.  Being reactive to what comes at us creates inefficiencies and stress.  Being Proactive allows us to take charge and deliver the results desired.

Maybe this is the time to look at what amount of effort you spend Responding to issues thrown at you vs. how much time you spend Proactively preparing, planning and controlling the processes around you.

Taking Action and Getting Results

Mistake Proofing – Lean Six Sigma includes many tools and approaches to process improvement.  There is one that has always been one of our favorites…Mistake Proofing.  More than 80% of the Green Belt projects use Mistake Proofing as a means of control on their Green Belt projects. Take a look at this short video on the 3 levels of Mistake Proofing

2010 Green Belts Save Big - Projects are averaging annual savings of over $200,000 each.  In addition, the projects are having positive impact on revenue, customer satisfaction, quality, safety, delivery…

Success Stories:

Next month we will begin sharing success stories.  There are many great examples of Process Improvement that we can all learn from each other.  If you would like to share a success story, forward a few words to Ric Van Der Linden and we will get it in the next newsletter.  Success stories could include the application of one tool or approach that helped solve a problem.  Success stories could be a successful Kaizen Event or Project. We look forward to sharing.

Please feel free to forward this newsletter to others that might have an interest.
