Is Lean Six Sigma Dead?
Some indications would lead us to think that Lean Six Sigma (LSS) is on its way out. During the past 18 month some corporations spent less on LSS training, some colleges and universities reduced or stopped offering LSS training and some Consultants have slowed down their activities. Yet others have dramatically increased efforts and are reaping the fruit.
It comes down to reactive vs. proactive. Those that have reduced efforts are reacting to the economy and are doing so to survive. They have cut back the small expense of LSS efforts to offset their reduced revenue to make it through the “tough times”. Others, though, have taken a more proactive approach to offset the economy and are preparing for a great future. They increased their Lean Six Sigma efforts to:
- Eliminate the pure non-value add and challenge the business value add
- Connect better with their customers
- DMAIC for process improvements
- Reduce the variation resulting in costs
- Develop the skills of employees by way of training and application to process improvement
Are you using Lean Six Sigma’s proven results to survive the economy and surpass your competition?
